Now for some reality TV heads, Toni Braxton may simply be the much calmer Braxton sister (much calmer than Tamar Braxton), but you will respect her for the RnB queen that she is. How can you not be familiar with the husky voice that is this RnB legend? In fact, every time I pick up a guitar the first thing that comes to my mind is I wish that I was in your arms, like that spanish guitar, and you would play me, through the night ’til the dawn.
Okay yes, I’ll admit it – I’m a bit of a superfan when it comes to Ms. Braxton but how can I not be? I mean did you not notice the feminist undertones in her He Wasn’t Man Enough video (bonus points if you can spot pre-Braxton Family Values Tamar)
Toni Braxton is a freaking legend, and this year marks her 25th anniversary in the music industry. So, what better way to celebrate such a milestone than with a worldwide tour? On top of that, unlike her musical counterparts, Ms. Braxton acknowledges the fact that Africa is part of the world and as such, she’s announced that she’s including South Africa in her ‘As Long As I Live’ tour schedule.
No stranger to South Africa (she came in 2015 with super producer BabyFace)25 years in the game may turn you cynical after a while, and yet Ms. Braxton is still in love with music as she was 25 years ago: “There have been moments when I felt defeated; felt I let myself down,” she says. “Even if I fail, music gives me enough strength to try something different. I’ve come full circle—yet there are still so many things to do.“
On top of her bringing her beautiful voice to SA, the seven-time Grammy Award-winner is also set to visit the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa in association with McDonald’s. Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families.
So, if you’re looking to spend your evening basking in the sound and beauty of a Grammy award-winning, RnB pioneer then take note of the information below.
