Not to be outdone by the slew of music festivals lined up, Big Concerts recently announced the arrival of Calabash South Africa – the ultimate international music festival.
Set to become the biggest stage to see the world’s top artists, the festival is taking place at DHL Stadium, Cape Town and FNB Stadium, Johannesburg in early 2024.
The festival will be headlined by pop-rock royalty, Maroon 5 and feature performances by Keane, Meduza, Ava Max, Will Linley and Lloyiso.
Maroon 5 Headlines & Keane Marks 20th Anniversary at Calabash South Africa
“Calabash South Africa is the international music festival that everyone has been waiting for, that will feature the world’s biggest artists with industry-leading production at the largest venues on the African continent.
Justin Van Wyk, Big Concerts CEO
It’s the culmination of years of planning and a celebration of the power of music that will expand into multiple days and stages in the future. Get ready for an unforgettable experience.”
With the captivating and distinctive vocals of frontman Adam Levine, Maroon 5 has consistently delivered chart-topping hits. These songs include “Sunday Morning”, “She Will Be Loved”, “Moves Like Jagger,” “This Love,” and “Sugar”.
With their robust musical catalogue, the Grammy Award-winning band has maintained a strong South African fan base.
Maroon 5 isn’t the only band taking centre stage.
British band Keane, renowned for their piano-driven pop-rock sound, will also be gracing the festival. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed debut album “Hopes and Fears” (2004), which features the hit single “Somewhere Only We Know”, the band is sure to leave an indelible mark on South African audiences with their introspective lyrics and captivating melodies continue to.
But wait, there’s more
If you’re looking for more international artists, Calabash South Africa has got you covered. Meduza, the most significant global streaming Italian artist in the history of music in Italy, will also be taking the stage.
Continuing to set the benchmark for dance music globally, Meduza’s debut release, “Piece of Your Heart” featuring Goodboys, has garnered over 2 billion streams worldwide, and it’s also secured a spot in the top 10 of the official charts in 20 countries.
But if you’re in the mood for a powerhouse vocalist, you’ll be happy to know that Ava Max will be setting the Calabash South Africa stage ablaze.
Renowned for her electrifying performances, Ava Max has captivated audiences worldwide with her infectious energy and dynamic stage presence.
With hits like “Sweet but Psycho” and “Kings & Queens,” her performance at Calabash is expected to be nothing short of spectacular.
Local is lekker
It wouldn’t be a South African festival without some incredible local artists.
This is why the line-up also features South African-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Will Linley. Linley coats raw emotion with saccharine melodies, lamenting how bad heartbreak sucks on hummable hooks delivered with unfiltered candor.
Last but not least, we have acclaimed South African musician and SAMA nominee Lloyiso. The aritst has firmly established himself as a rising star within the country’s vibrant music scene.
With his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, Lloyiso has captivated audiences worldwide. This has earned him a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim. Continuously pushing boundaries and redefining the possibilities of his craft, Lloyiso has solidified his position as a true musical force to be reckoned with.
Frankly, he’s set himself apart as an artist committed to both artistic integrity and creative innovation.
