The renaissance woman that is Bonang Matheba recently unveiled her very own collection with fashion brand Steve Madden.
Bonang Matheba x Steve Madden: A Dynamic Style Duo
The new collection, which marks Steven Madden’s 10th year in South Africa, was unveiled at an intimate celebration Thursday evening at Kyalami Grand Prix.
The event was attended by Bonang’s closest loved ones, selected media, and was hosted by the always lively Zanele Potelwa.
The latest range is Queen B’s second project with the fashion brand. Last year, the two names worked together to create a holiday collection that Bonang curated specifically for young South African women.
Clearly, the audience loved the collection, and so did the Steve Madden team. So much so that the brand asked the 36-year-old to design her own personal collection.
“They flew me to New York City and I spent a week with the incredible handbag and shoe team. I was orientated in terms of what it takes to create a strong international collection that just flies off the shelf.”

Bonang added that after the week of orientation, she was given free rein and asked a simple question; what do you want it to feel like?
“New York” she answered.
Having spent the past two years in the city that never sleeps, she wanted the collection to resonate with that, but also be quintessential South African.
“We’re in the era of African creatives, and we’ve become the heartbeat of global trends – we’re fresh, we’re new, and we’re interesting.”
The Clothes That Make The B
The collection features a big, beautiful bag that can fit a laptop – perfect for the corporate and varsity girlies. Additionally, there are also two pairs of gorgeous slides because unless you’re Miss Bellum, no one spends all day in heels.
The collection has something for everyone- whether you’re looking for a bag that’s louder than your outfit, or a pair of gladiator heels that make a statement with every outfit you pair it with. It’s clear that the new collection features a strong attention to detail that has become synonymous with Bonang’s brand,
