I’m not a fan of the cold. Maybe it’s the Congolese in me — or maybe it’s the small piece of sanity in me that understands that no human should be existing in less than 4 degrees Celsius weather. Regardless of my aversion to chilly weather, my desire for warmth need not come at the expense of my style. After all, I spent a good part of my twenties watching Olivia Pope take command of an entire room simply with the power of a perfect trench coat.
So, if like me, you’re more Moana than Frozen, I’ve compiled a list of winter coats that will help you raise the temperature of any room that you enter this freezing season.
Get Cozy With These 3 Winter Coats
1. Aviator Shearling Lined Pleather Trench Coat
If you really want to stay warm and shut down the runway, then investing in a trench coat is the way to go — especially because it goes with every look (and with a great pair of leggings, it can be a look on its own).

A new release from Foschini, the Aviator Shearling Lined Pleather Trench Coat is the perfect addition to your closet because it effortlessly exudes sophistication, serving to elevate any winter look.
Thanks to the use of pleather, the coat provides both the luxurious look of leather, and the warmth — all without harming any animals.
Versatile and chic, this trench coat is definitely a classic and the perfect statement piece for the upcoming winter night outs.

2. Plaid Print Belted Overcoat
As soon as temperatures drop, home is my favourite place to be. I wrap myself up in my dressing gown, and get comfortable with a steaming cup of hot chocolate. Now, once it’s time to leave the house, the good news is that there’s hot chocolate outside — but I can’t exactly take my dressing gown with me — or can I.

Enter the wrap coat — the added closure not only brings extra warmth to the body, but the manner in which you tie can result in a polished and chic appearance.
YellowSubTrading, a favourite of mine with an array of options at wallet-friendly prices, has a Plaid Print Overcoat whose belted waist creates a flattering silhouette, all while keeping you warm and upping your style game.

3. Mr. Price RT Formal Blazer

If you’re looking to add a more polished and formal aspect to your winter outfit, then grab a blazer. Whether it’s a pair of jeans or a wool dress, a good blazer can show you off as both professional and stylish.
The Mr. Price RT Formal Blazer proves itself as the perfect way to achieve both style and formality, as you can move with it from boardroom to evening dinners with ease.
Go from meetings to the streets in polished style by grabbing the blazer from Mr. Price for R378.
Now, while winter is my least favourite season, even I know that there’s more to staying warm than just a hot water bottle and an electricity-eating electric blanket. Winter’s already a dreary season, so there’s no need to make it worse with even duller fashions.
With that said, make this winter one to remember by wrapping yourself up in some gorgeous, and warm, coats.
