The weather may have been gloomy on in Sandton this past Sunday, but the Heineken All-Invitational Polo Tournament made sure to keep things light as the third instalment brought not only sporting excellence, but also gorgeous fashion and electrifying music.
Heineken All-Invitational Polo: Where Sport Meets Style
The suburb of Inanda welcomed the Heineken All-Invitational Polo. In partnership with Bernini and L’or Espresso, Heineken returned for the third edition of their prestigious Polo event and tasked us with dressing up to the nines.
Though gusty winds swirled around upon arrival, coupled with a brief wait at the entrance, soon enough, we descended onto the Heineken marquee. Here, we were catered for by attentive staff, fed the most delicious food, and supplied with an almost endless supply of drinks. Additionally, we also enjoyed the best beats while having the perfect view of majestic horses and polo players battle it out on the field (which was unfortunately interrupted several times by heavy rains).
Fashion, Fame, and Fierce Polo
With the theme being ‘A touch of green’ – a subtle nod to the vibrant green colour of the Heineken bottle – our favourite celebrities and personalities reminded us why fashion, not horses, are the best part of the polo.
While South African celebrities are not always applauded for their fashion sense, or ability to honour a theme, it appears that the Polo may have rejuvenated things. This may have something to do with the colour green representing wealth and prosperity.
With that, here’s a breakdown of my favourite looks from the day;

After a day of fashion and stallions, the last thing we wanted was for the vibes to die down. Thankfully, Strictly Soul was right there to keep the party going well into the night, allowing us to dance the night away to a classic mix of hip-hop and house music.
Beyond Polo: A Celebration of Style, Sports, and Sounds
As always, the Heineken All-Invitational Polo reminded us that a sporting event can be more than just grabbing that illustrious cup. In fact, a sporting event can be sophisticated, festive, and the perfect setting for a fashion show.
