Who doesn’t love a sunset? Aside from the majesty of nature, sunsets also symbolise a fresh start and a moment of stillness. Also, sunsets now symbolise one of the greatest weekends in Cape Town in recent memory- a weekend filled with music, art, wellness, and a lot of Corona.
The Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour is a global music and lifestyle festival blending music, mindfulness, and environmental awareness.

“The Corona Sunsets Festival celebrates life’s simple, powerful moments – reconnecting with nature and mindfulness.” – Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand for Corona South Africa.
Golden Musical Moments at Corona Sunsets

Making our way inside Glen Country Club (which was an incredibly seamless experience) this past Saturday, we witnessed a powerful opening ceremony led by poet Siphokazi Jonas. This was alongside a symbolic stone-casting ritual with spiritual healer Nkosenathi Koela.
In aligning with the ‘More Than Music’ banner, we were greeted by acclaimed South African artist Daniel Popper’s monumental sculpture, ‘Nature’s Goddess’,
“The [Corona] collaboration was a great opportunity because they’re trying to bring people more in touch with nature. So when they approached me to create “Nature’s Goddess”, I saw it as a great way to get festival goers to connect deeper with nature and question their connections with the natural environment.” – Daniel Popper
Music and Sunsets
Against a stunning coastal backdrop, we were treated to standout performances from top artists. These included international DJs Nightmares on Wax (UK), Tsha (UK), and MoBlack (Italy), along with incredible performances from local stars Sun-El Musician, Scorpion Kings and Bantwanas.
“Performing in South Africa, with its profound house music legacy, energized crowd, and beautiful setting, was an incredible experience here in Cape Town,” said MoBlack.

As the sun dipped below Cape Town’s iconic Clifton coastline, a sold-out crowd of 6,000 festivalgoers gathered to witness a spectacular “Sunset Sync” show that cast a golden glow over the Corona Sunset Festival World Tour.
The event concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display from the iconic main stage, recognizable by its massive Mandala symbol.
In addition to music performances, the event immersed festivalgoers in various immersive experiences. These included organic cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, silent meditation sessions, drumming, massages, and ocean conservation art installations. All of these different settings encouraged festivalgoers to unwind and enjoy nature.
More Than a Music Festival
Day two of the festival was all about unwinding and recovering, as we gathered for Corona Sunsets Unwind at The Lawns in Camps Bay.
The day strongly focused on wellness, promoting relaxation and reconnection with nature. Activities included guided walks, yoga, ice baths, and meditation. A downtempo silent disco, headlined by Ibiza resident DJ Nightmares on Wax, provided a mellow yet vibrant sunset experience to end the festival weekend.
“Corona Sunsets Unwind is really about making festivals about community, nature, sustainability, wellbeing, and wellness,” explained Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, a medical doctor and yoga teacher who led a sound healing session. With a background in medicine, Mbizvo has witnessed how mental wellbeing is often omitted from health conversations,
“If your inner space is clouded by negative thoughts, then you aren’t experiencing life the way you should. When you have the opportunity to bring people together like festivals, why not incorporate and infuse that with wellness?”
Nthupula Masipa, a yoga teacher, echoed these sentiments and also assisted with the 8 °C ice baths with words of affirmation.
“To have a corporate brand like Corona that’s conscious of wellness is the next step, and they’re revolutionary in that way.”
As for the ice baths?

“Being able to support yourself going through hard things [such as the ice bath] by using your breath is a great skill to learn, as you’ll be able to breathe through difficult things throughout the rest of your life,” explained Masipa.
I’ve been to a few festivals in the past. However, the Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour proved that it’s more than a festival. Rather, it’s an experience that reminds us of the importance of living fully, with every beat, every golden ray, and every shared moment.
