When it comes to media, there are few things more important than represenation, and that’s something that the Feathers understand. Returning for their sixteenth edition, and this year’s awards ceremony year shone the spotlight on “Borderless Existence.”
This year’s latest even took a bold step forward by not only celebrating the resilience and creativity of LGBTQIA+ individuals but also extending its embrace to include differently-abled people and minority groups who have traditionally been marginalized within mainstream conversations.
Feather Awards: A Night of Equality and Social Justice
Last week, the trendy Sheds in Johannesburg delivered an unforgettable night of recognition, celebration, and colourful unity.
“This year, we are proud to celebrate Borderless Existence – a vision of a world where all voices, identities, and experiences are respected and valued. A world where every individual, regardless of ability or identity, is seen and heard.” – Thami Kotlolo, co-founder of the Feather Awards.
Hosted by the dynamic Dineo Langa, Khaya Dladla and Andiswa P Gebashe alongside Pink Carpet hosts Ayanda Makuzeni and Tumi Powerhouse, the evening’s hosts delivered their signature flair and energy to the event, and ensured that the night was filled with excitement, laughter and unforgettable moments.
Together, they guided attendees through a spectacular program that included heartwarming tributes, stunning performances, and the recognition of extraordinary individuals who have made a lasting impact.
