The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad is the latest addition to The Mommy Club series, and while they’re the new kid on the block, they’ve quickly become the favourite child amongst viewers. Bringing together five powerful Afrikaans moms who seemingly have it all, along with their families, the cast includes Crystal Van Der Burgh, Johandri Johnson, Louise Volschenk, Tessa Tullues, and Ansu Viljoen – who is easy to remember thanks to her gorgeous and thick black hair.
Ansu Viljoen Talks All Thing The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad
Filming a reality show is no easy feat, as it comes with its challenges, especially with two little ones under two, a husband running his own business, and working as a locum vet. Yet every hurdle seemed to be a blessing in disguise for the Viljoen clan,
“It was a challenging time for both me and my family, but ultimately, it brought us closer together. We’ve learned to cherish our time as a family even more.”
A Fractured Mommy Club
In addition to the challenges, Viljoen also admits that things weren’t always smooth with her co-star. While fellow mommy Crystal Van Der Burgh has been one of her best friends for years, Viljoen can’t exactly say the same for the rest of the cast.
“I initially saw the potential for strong connections, particularly with Johandri, since we shared common interests. However, the group dynamic often led to misunderstandings, and for me, trust is the foundation of any relationship. Looking back, I’ve realised that not everyone is meant to be in your inner circle, and that’s perfectly okay.”
Elaborating more on the disconnect with the other women, Viljoen says that she believes in mutual respect and honesty in friendships. Once she noticed patterns of disloyalty, she opted to keep her distance rather than forcing connections that didn’t align with my values,
“In my life, I prioritise friendships built on honesty, encouragement, and support, and this experience reinforced how important that is. I truly hope that, as women, we can begin uplifting each other and create a more positive space, not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us.”
Watch Moms Be Real
If you needed any more reason to watch the show, Viljoen reveals how it offers an unfiltered and raw glimpse into the ups and downs of parenthood, relationships, and life itself.
“Whether you’re a mom, a businesswoman, or someone navigating friendships and personal growth, there’s something here for everyone. It’s a journey worth watching!”
The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad is now streaming on Showmax, with new episodes available every Friday.
