I enjoy RnB. Not as much as rock music, but it’s definitely one of my top favourite genres, despite my characteristic cynicism. With that, I’m all for any concerts and festivals that platform the genre, especially when they bring in international artists. Enter the Once Upon a Time Concert Series – an electrifying expedition through the world of R&B, bringing international talents directly to your doorstep. This year, they’re bringing DVSN to Johannesburg, after years of the musical duo making their intentions of wanting to visit the country clear on social media.

The Once Upon A Time Series is about creating a tapestry of connection between us, the devoted audience, and the R&B maestros we adore, transforming South Africa into a pivotal destination for artists worldwide.
In its aim to become the go-to concert series for R&B artists seeking to enchant South African audiences, the Once Upon A Time Series is bringing none other than Canadian R&B duo dvsn to the nation.
Made up of vocalist Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85, the duo captured audiences in 2015 with their singles “The Line” and “With Me”, before being later signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label.
Following their debut 2016 album, Sept. 5th, which featured the crowd favourite Hallucinations, they’ve become known for their sensual style, soulful vocals, and emotionally raw lyrics. With each album drop, Morning After (2017), A Muse in Her Feelings (2020), and Working on My Karma (2022), their music continues to explore themes of love, heartbreak, and vulnerability.

At the time of this writing, Phase 1 and Phase 2 tickets have sold out – fast. However, considering the interest, I’m sure (and hope) that Phase 3 tickets will be released soon, and if so, they can be purchased here.
