South Africa has evidently made its mark as a great concert destination, as artists continue to flock to the nation. Not to be left out of the conversation is Vertex Events, who have recently announced that they’re bringing one of my favourite artists from the latest crop of RnB to the country – Ms. Ella Mai to headline the Konka Kulture Weekend.
Ella Mai To Serenade South Africa
Born in London in 1994 and raised between the United Kingdom and New York, Ella Mai rose to international fame in 2017 with the release of her “Boo’d Up,” which not only topped the charts but also earned her a Grammy for Best R&B Song.
She later released her self-titled debut studio album in 2018, and it went on to not only be one of my favourite albums of all time, but it also debuted in the top 20 in the UK and at number five on the US Billboard 200. What’s more, the album was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The Grammy Award–winning R&B songstress later released Heart on My Sleeve in 2022 and Do You Still Love Me? this past February, with each body of work continuing to honour the beauty of classic R&B influences, all while creating a sound that is intimately and undeniably authentic.

As headliner, Ella Mai is sure to bring her signature warmth, powerhouse vocals, and undeniable star power – but she’s not going to do it alone. In fact, joining Ella Mai on stage are some of Mzansi’s biggest hitmakers that will help to blend RnB blues with amapiano vibes:
